Johnathan W. Minnie, a 27-year-old man from Belle Vernon, PA, tragically lost his life on August 6, 2016. He was standing in the parking lot of Saloon 136 on Rainbow Run Road in Forward Township with a group of friends around 1:50 a.m. when a vehicle approached and someone inside opened fire on the group. Minnie suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was rushed to Monongahela Valley Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2:30 a.m.
The incident also left two 27-year-old women injured,
who were taken to local hospitals and listed in stable condition. The Washington County coroner confirmed Minnie's death, and the Allegheny County police launched an investigation into the shooting.
In connection with the fatal shooting, police issued an arrest warrant for Joshua Wardlaw, a 21-year-old man. Wardlaw was identified as the suspect and was wanted on charges that included homicide and aggravated assault. He was known to frequent areas such as Donora, Monessen, Rostraver Township, Carroll Township, and McKeesport. The investigation revealed that Wardlaw was involved in the shooting that killed Minnie and injured the two women.
The case drew significant attention from local law enforcement, and detectives from the Allegheny County Homicide Unit worked diligently to gather evidence and build a case against Wardlaw. The community was urged to come forward with any information related to the incident, and anonymous tips were accepted to aid in the investigation.
