In the late summer of 2016, the quiet community of Sarver, Pennsylvania, was shaken by the tragic death of LeeAnn Negley, a 43-year-old woman. On the morning of August 18th, she was found deceased in the basement of her home. The discovery was made by her own mother, a heart-wrenching scene that would soon unfold into a case of murder-suicide.
LeeAnn, a dedicated special education teacher at South Buffalo Elementary School for two decades, was a mother to two young daughters, then aged
seven and nine. She had been divorced from her ex-husband, 44-year-old Todd Negley. Reports from that day indicate that Todd was expected to bring their children home that morning but arrived without them. It was later in the morning, at approximately 10:45 a.m., that both LeeAnn and Todd were pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigations by the Buffalo Township Police revealed a grim picture of the events that had transpired. LeeAnn had sustained multiple gunshot wounds, while Todd was found with a single gunshot wound. Authorities quickly identified Todd Negley as the aggressor in the incident. According to police, the motive appeared to be related to their separation, with suggestions that he had become enraged by the fact that she was planning to start dating again. The investigation concluded that Todd had shot his ex-wife before turning the gun on himself.
The community was left to mourn the loss of a beloved teacher and mother. LeeAnn was remembered as a kind and amazing person who was deeply involved in her school and, most importantly, with her two daughters. Her sudden and violent death left a void in the lives of her family, friends, and the many students she had taught over the years.
