Just after midnight on May 18, 2025, Alyssa Rose Wiest, 25, a woman from West Conshohocken, was found facedown on the 200 block of Moorehead Avenue with gunshot wounds to her torso. Investigators determined the shooting began inside her home; Alyssa Rose Wiest fled out the front door and made it partway down the block before collapsing. She was taken to Lankenau Hospital, where she was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
At the scene, detectives noted the door to her residence was ajar, a blood trail led from inside the home to the sidewalk, and five projectiles were recovered both inside and near her body.
Police and county detectives quickly focused on Alyssa Rose Wiest’s boyfriend of two years, 26-year-old Michael Dutkiewicz of Warminster. A neighbor reported seeing him standing beside a silver Ford F-150 moments after the gunfire, and license-plate readers captured the truck moving through the area beginning around 12:25 a.m. A warrant was issued, and by noon the same day he turned himself in to West Conshohocken police. He was charged with first-degree murder, third-degree murder, and possession of an instrument of crime, was denied bail, and was remanded to Montgomery County Correctional Facility pending a preliminary hearing set for May 27, 2025.
Friends and colleagues described Alyssa Rose Wiest, 25, as a young microbiologist whose promise and warmth were felt by everyone who knew her. In the days after her killing, her family spoke publicly of their grief and of honoring her legacy, even as the criminal case against the accused moved forward.
