On January 21, 2017, 18-year-old Jose Efrain Rodriguez, a former New York resident, was shot and killed by police officers in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. The incident occurred after a confrontation with two officers, during which Rodriguez was armed and allegedly fired at the officers. The officers returned fire, and Rodriguez later died at a hospital.
