On April 12, 2017, a young life was tragically cut short in Allentown, Pennsylvania. George Concepcion, an 18-year-old Hispanic male, was shot and killed in his home in what was determined to be a robbery gone wrong. Concepcion was in the process of selling his Xbox gaming system in an effort to help his family with rent money. This act of responsibility and care for his loved ones ultimately led to a fatal encounter.
The individual responsible for Concepcion's death was identified as
22-year-old Alonso Blue. Blue had gone to Concepcion's residence with the intention of robbing him of the video game console. During the course of the robbery, a struggle broke out between the two young men. In the midst of this confrontation, Blue discharged a firearm twice. One of these shots struck George Concepcion, inflicting a mortal wound.
Following an investigation into the homicide, Alonso Blue was apprehended and faced legal proceedings for his actions. In May of the following year, Blue pleaded guilty to charges of third-degree murder and robbery. During his sentencing, he expressed remorse and apologized to Concepcion's family, stating that he never intended to harm their son. The court sentenced Alonso Blue to a term of 30 to 60 years in prison for his role in the death of George Concepcion.
