In the early morning hours of July 2, 2017, the life of 19-year-old Jeremiah Isaiah Jones of Turtle Creek was cut short on a desolate road in Wilkins Township, a suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Jones, a Black / African American male and a former standout quarterback for Woodland Hills High School, was discovered lying in the middle of Lougeay Road with multiple gunshot wounds. His death was officially ruled a homicide.
An Uber driver came upon the scene at approximately 3 a.m.
and found Jones still alive, prompting an immediate call to 911. The driver administered CPR until first responders arrived, but tragically, Jones was pronounced dead at the scene around 3:30 a.m. Investigators from the Allegheny County Police Department believe that Jones had driven to the remote and unpopulated area where his body was found and was shot at that location. The presence of numerous spent shell casings and bullet fragments at the scene supported this conclusion.
Despite the initial investigation and subsequent pleas to the public for information, the case has grown cold. Authorities have not publicly identified any suspects or made any arrests in connection with the murder of Jeremiah Jones. The promising life of the young man, who had garnered interest from Division I schools for his athletic abilities, was extinguished without a clear motive or perpetrator brought to justice. The investigation into his death remains open, with law enforcement and his family still seeking answers.
