In the late evening of June 20, 2012, the life of 24-year-old Montrell Green was tragically cut short in Pittsburgh's Hill District. Known affectionately as 'Boomy' to his loved ones, the young Black man was a father to twin girls and a resident of the nearby Uptown neighborhood. He was discovered by Pittsburgh police in a courtyard on the 2400 block of Bedford Avenue around 10:25 p.m., having sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
