On the evening of November 8, 2017, 19-year-old African American male Parris J. Lane was fatally shot in a parking lot near Hamilton Tower, just steps from Allentown City Hall in Pennsylvania. The shooting occurred around 7:30 p.m., and responding officers found Parris Lane with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after their arrival. This incident marked the 17th homicide in Allentown that year, the highest total since 2007.
