In the quiet community of Elkins Park, Pennsylvania, the life of Joseph Kohler III, a 34-year-old male from Southmont, was tragically cut short on January 30, 2018. Kohler was discovered on the grounds of the Elkins Estate, the former Dominican Retreat House, having sustained a fatal gunshot wound to his upper chest.
Investigations revealed that Kohler had traveled to the Philadelphia area a few days prior, on January 27, to bring an acquaintance.
In the days that followed, he remained in the vicinity. On the morning of his death, witnesses reported seeing Kohler and another man, later identified as 24-year-old Antonio Lindsay of Philadelphia, walking together up a hill on the estate property, disappearing from view. Shortly after, the sound of a gunshot broke the morning stillness. Witnesses then observed Lindsay returning to a vehicle alone before leaving the scene.
The investigation swiftly pointed to Lindsay as the primary suspect. An arrest warrant was issued for him on February 8, and he was apprehended by the Homicide Fugitive Task Force in Philadelphia. Lindsay was subsequently charged with first-degree murder in connection with Joseph Kohler III's death. Following his arrest, he was denied bail and taken to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility to await his preliminary hearing, which was scheduled for March 14. While an arrest has been made, the motive behind the shooting was not immediately made public by the authorities.
