In the late hours of a Wednesday in Pittsburgh, the Bedford Dwellings neighborhood was disturbed by the sound of multiple gunshots. When police arrived at the 2500 block of Bedford Avenue shortly before 11 p.m. on May 9, 2018, they discovered a man lying lifeless on the sidewalk. The victim was identified as 26-year-old Lawrence Brown, a Black male from Pittsburgh.
He had sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the head.
Known affectionately as 'LB,' Lawrence Brown was a father of four children. Those who knew him described him as a loving, caring, and humorous person with a beautiful soul. He had attended Arthur J. Rooney and Oliver High School. His sudden and violent death left his family and community mourning a significant loss.
Investigators at the scene noted that several parked cars in the vicinity had also been struck by bullets, suggesting a chaotic and dangerous scene had unfolded. Despite the initial investigation and calls for anyone with information to come forward, no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting. The case remains unsolved, and the person or persons responsible for Lawrence Brown's death have not been publicly identified or brought to justice.
