Tyler Owens, a 24-year-old male from York, Pennsylvania, tragically died on October 7, 2018. Owens was the intended target of a shooting that took place in the early hours of that Sunday morning in the 100 block of South Richland Avenue. He was pronounced dead at York Hospital shortly after 3:30 a.m. The York City Police Department confirmed that Owens' death was the result of a drug deal gone bad.
Three men were initially accused in connection with Owens' death: Zane Senft, Rahmeire
Bradshaw, and Myannh "Milo" Legette. Senft, 24, of Lebanon, initially faced homicide charges but later pleaded guilty to illegal possession of a firearm and hindering the apprehension of a suspect. His charges were dropped after security video showed he was at an ATM withdrawing cash for a marijuana deal when Owens was shot. Senft was sentenced to 10 to 12 years in state prison.
Bradshaw, 22, of Baltimore, had his homicide charge dropped but pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit robbery and was sentenced to 11½ to 23 months in prison, plus five years' probation. Legette, 23, formerly of Lebanon, was convicted of first- and second-degree murder, robbery, and conspiracy to commit robbery. He faces automatic life sentences without the possibility of parole.
The investigation revealed that Owens was fatally shot after a deal was set up for Legette and two other men to buy marijuana from him. The tragic incident led to a targeted law enforcement response in York City's west end, aiming to address the surge in violent incidents in the area.
