On November 17, 2018, 19-year-old Miranda Grimm-Gilarski, a young woman from Homestead, Pennsylvania, tragically lost her life. She was fatally shot by her boyfriend, Darion Abel, who was 20 years old at the time. The incident occurred at her father's home on Louise Street in Munhall, Pennsylvania. He drove to her home, kicked in the front door, and shot her multiple times. Abel then turned himself into the police, confessing to the crime.
The investigation revealed that Abel had loaded a 9mm pistol before driving to Grimm-Gilarski's home. According to Abel, he only remembered hearing a bang before leaving the house with the gun, which was empty. Investigators found 15 shell casings at the scene and discovered that Grimm-Gilarski was shot several times while lying on the ground. Abel was charged with criminal homicide, burglary, and carrying a concealed firearm without a license.
