In the spring of 2019, the life of a loving father and entrepreneur was tragically cut short in Southwest Philadelphia. Khalil Hicks, a 39-year-old male, was inside a U-Haul storage garage on the 6200 block of Chelwynde Avenue on the evening of April 16th when he was fatally shot during a robbery. Police responded to a call for a critical shooting just after 7:50 p.m. and found Hicks unresponsive with gunshot wounds to his back. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
At the time of his death, Hicks was a hands-on father to four children and was running a small clothing store called The Re-Up Shop, located inside an indoor flea market. He was also in the process of starting a tow truck business, a venture he would never get to see come to fruition. His family described him as a caring and giving person, someone who would always be there if you needed him.
The investigation into the murder of Khalil Hicks is ongoing, and as of now, his death remains unsolved. No arrests have been made in connection with the case, and police have not publicly identified any suspects. A reward of up to $20,000 is available for anyone who comes forward with information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for his death. His family continues to seek justice and keep his memory alive.
