Evelyse Rodriguez, a 36-year-old Hispanic female, was tragically killed on or around July 7, 2019, in her home located on the 4600 block of Weymouth Street in the Juniata Park neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Her death was the result of a domestic violence incident that ended in a murder-suicide.
Concerns arose when the 17-year-old daughter of Evelyse and her estranged husband, Jose Rodriguez, was unable to contact her parents. On the morning of July 8, 2019, the daughter contacted police to request a welfare check at the family's residence. Upon their arrival, officers made a grim discovery inside the home. Evelyse was found in the dining room, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds throughout her body.
The investigation determined that Evelyse's husband, 39-year-old Jose Rodriguez, a Philadelphia police officer with 11 years of service, was the perpetrator. After shooting his wife, Jose went to the basement of the home and took his own life with a single gunshot wound to the head. Investigators concluded that this was a murder-suicide and that there were no other suspects involved in the incident. Consequently, no arrests were made in connection with Evelyse's death. The couple also had an 11-year-old son, and neither of their children were in the home at the time of the incident.
