On July 27th, 22-year-old Tareef McClellan, a Black male, was found dead, the victim of a fatal gunshot wound to the head. His body was discovered inside the detached garage of a home on Versailles Avenue, a place where he did not reside, though he was known to an individual living at the property.
The grim discovery was made after paramedics were dispatched to the residence for an unrelated medical call concerning a female resident. It was she who alerted them to the presence of a deceased individual in her garage. Allegheny County Police were soon on the scene, launching a homicide investigation into the violent death of the young man.
In the initial stages of the investigation, details were scarce. Law enforcement officials reported that they had no suspects and the motive behind the shooting remained unclear.
