On the evening of Monday, October 14, 2019, a 34-year-old Black male named Micah Smith was found lying in the street on the 8000 block of Ogontz Avenue in Philadelphia. It was 7:35 p.m. when Philadelphia Police officers responded to the scene and discovered that Smith was suffering from a gunshot wound.

The officers quickly transported Smith to Albert Einstein Medical Center for treatment. Despite their efforts, he succumbed to his injuries and died that evening. At the time of his death, ...
