In the late afternoon of March 29, 2020, a grim discovery was made on the 4700 block of Paschall Avenue in Philadelphia. Responding to a call at approximately 4:24 p.m., police officers found 22-year-old Jhaquil Aguilar, a Black male, inside a gray 2019 Hyundai Elantra. He had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was in critical condition.
Emergency responders rushed Aguilar to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in a desperate attempt to save his life.
Despite the efforts of medical personnel, he succumbed to his injuries later that same day. The incident was another tragic chapter in the city's ongoing struggle with gun violence.
In the years that have followed, the investigation into Jhaquil Aguilar's death has remained open. To date, there has been no public announcement of any arrests made in connection with the homicide, nor have any suspects been officially named.
