Shyheem Omar-Stephen Robinson, a 21-year-old young, talented, and upcoming rapper known as "WestPhillyHeem," was fatally shot on October 2, 2020, in Philadelphia, PA. He was found inside a dark blue BMW that had struck several parked cars and come to a stop on the sidewalk on the 6900 block of Chew Avenue. Police transported him to Albert Einstein Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead that morning.
Shyheem was known for his kind heart and genuine concern for all people. He often donated clothes to various men's shelters around the city and was an adviser supporter of anything "Black Owned Businesses." He graduated from Cristo Rey of Philadelphia Catholic School and enjoyed playing basketball throughout his junior high and high school years. Shyheem was the youngest of three sons and resided on Race Street in Philadelphia, PA.
The murder of Shyheem Omar-Stephen Robinson remains unsolved. Detectives involved in the case have made a plea to anyone who may have information regarding his death, urging individuals to step forward and reach out to the Philadelphia Police Department. The detectives believe that sharing any relevant information could significantly contribute to the ongoing investigation and help provide justice and solace to grieving loved ones.
In remembrance of Shyheem, Cristo Rey Philadelphia High School organizes the Shyheem O. Robinson College Scholarship. This scholarship, amounting to $4,000, will be awarded to a student basketball player at Cristo Rey, with the first scholarship presented on June 3rd, 2023. The scholarship aims to honor Shyheem's spirit and legacy, supporting Cristo Rey Philadelphia alumni in their pursuit of attaining college degrees.
