On October 16, 2020, Nefertiti Mitchell, a 29-year-old woman from Johnstown, PA, tragically lost her life due to a gunshot wound. The incident occurred near Oakhurst Homes on Daniel Street, where Mitchell was shot in the abdomen. She was immediately transported to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, where she underwent surgery but ultimately succumbed to massive blood loss. The Cambria County Coroner, Jeff Lees, ruled her death a homicide.
