On January 14, 2022, 17-year-old Carissa Bright, a Black teenager from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was fatally shot in the Germantown neighborhood. She was seated in the backseat of a vehicle on the 6500 block of Ross Street when a Honda Odyssey, driven by 26-year-old Damir Richardson, pulled alongside and opened fire, striking Bright in the head and chest.
