On January 19, 2022, Marquis Campbell, a 15-year-old African American male, was fatally shot while sitting in a school van outside Oliver Citywide Academy in Pittsburgh, PA. Marquis was an unarmed student waiting to go home when Eugene Watson, then 17 years old, approached the van and fired two shots through the partially open window, striking Marquis in the chest. He was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.
