Ana Maria Scott, a 42-year-old woman from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, tragically lost her life on March 13, 2022. She was a victim of gun violence, which occurred in a boarding house on South 16th Street in Harrisburg. Ana Maria Scott was born on June 22, 1979, in New York City and was raised in Middletown, New York. She was known for her outgoing personality and was deeply loved by her family and friends.
On the day before her death, Ana Maria Scott was injured in a chain-reaction crash
involving 73 vehicles on Interstate 83. While she was recovering from her injuries, Shawn Hairston, a food delivery person, was shot and killed while delivering food to her. Ana Maria Scott was found on a landing between the first and second floors of the boarding house, and Shawn Hairston was found suffering from gunshot wounds on the stairs behind her. Unfortunately, Hairston succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital.
The Harrisburg Police Department identified Kurt D. Tasker Jr., a 32-year-old man from Harrisburg, as the suspect in the double homicide. Tasker was previously acquitted of a 2016 murder charge but was charged with the killings of Ana Maria Scott and Shawn Hairston. At the time of the incident, police believed the double homicide was a targeted incident, although Ana Maria Scott was not the intended target. Tasker reportedly owned the boarding house where the homicides occurred. Despite the charges, Tasker remained at large, and investigators were actively searching for him.
The tragic loss of Ana Maria Scott has left a significant impact on her family, friends, and the community. She is survived by her four children, Norma, Jaleena, Esense, and Allan, as well as her siblings and several nieces and nephews. The community has come together to honor her memory and support her loved ones during this difficult time.
