Willis DeMar Brooks, a 30-year-old African American man from Duquesne, Pennsylvania, tragically lost his life on March 18, 2022, in Pittsburgh. Brooks was working as a security guard at Nerdz Lobbi, an after-hours club in Pittsburgh's Knoxville neighborhood, when he was fatally shot. He was escorting an unruly couple out of the club when two men, Akeyba Sanchez and Deontay Patrick, opened fire on him. Brooks was shot multiple times and succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
