In the spring of 2011, a grim discovery was made on Bentler Street in Detroit, Michigan. Inside a burning minivan, authorities found the body of 22-year-old Brandon Buck. An investigation into the male victim's death quickly revealed a story far more sinister than a simple vehicle fire. It was determined that Buck, an African-American, had been shot before the van was intentionally set ablaze in an effort to conceal the crime.
The investigation into Buck's death led authorities to
unravel a conspiracy involving multiple individuals. Through witness testimonies and circumstantial evidence, a picture began to form of a premeditated and coordinated effort to end the young man's life. The evidence suggested a plan was put in place and executed, culminating in the fatal shooting of Buck and the subsequent attempt to destroy any evidence in the fire.
Three suspects, identified as Warner, Cummings, and Sampson, were ultimately implicated in the murder. The trio faced serious charges, including first-degree premeditated murder and conspiracy to commit murder, for their roles in the death of Brandon Buck. The ensuing court proceedings detailed their alleged involvement in both the planning and the carrying out of the fatal assault and the subsequent arson.
