On December 30, 2022, Quahdeir Durrant, a 25-year-old man from Williamsport, PA, tragically lost his life due to multiple gunshot wounds. The incident occurred around 11:45 p.m. in the 1100 block of West Fourth Street. Durrant was rushed to UPMC Williamsport but was pronounced dead early the next morning. The shooting was described as a chaotic scene by neighbors who heard the gunshots and witnessed the aftermath.
The investigation into Durrant's death revealed that a white four-door Volkswagen SE V6 with a temporary Virginia license plate was found at the scene. Despite the presence of a large crowd, police faced significant challenges in gathering information from witnesses. Mayor Derek Slaughter described the shooting as a senseless act of violence and assured the community that efforts to bring those responsible to justice would continue.
In the spring of 2022, Durrant was involved in another shooting incident, where Daimeer Abdul Clark allegedly fired multiple rounds at him. This prior incident was caught on surveillance video and added complexity to the ongoing investigation. As of now, no arrests have been made, and the case remains open.
The Williamsport community has been urged to come forward with any information that could help solve the case. Mayor Slaughter emphasized the importance of community cooperation in resolving such cases and preventing further violence. The investigation continues, with law enforcement agencies working diligently to identify and apprehend the suspect responsible for Quahdeir Durrant's death.
