Antonio "Tony" Spraggins, a 22-year-old African American male from Elyria, OH, tragically passed away on January 5, 2014. He was born on November 23, 1991, and was a graduate of Elyria High School, Class of 2010. Antonio was found dead in a bullet-ridden Chevrolet Equinox near Foster and Lake avenues. The vehicle was discovered with its engine running and tires still spinning, indicating a sudden and unexpected incident.
The investigation into Antonio's death revealed that he died from a
single gunshot wound to his torso. Elyria police arrested three individuals in connection with the homicide: Andre Jackson, 19, Jordan Williams, 25, and Jeris Geiger, 21. Jackson and Williams were each indicted on two counts of murder and one count of felonious assault. The evidence suggested that Williams fired the fatal shot, while Jackson and Geiger were accomplices.
The case went to trial, and in October 2016, the Lorain County Court of Common Pleas affirmed the judgment against Jordan Williams. Williams was convicted of murder and felonious assault, and he, along with Jackson, was held at the Lorain County jail awaiting trial.
