Dinkisra Mengistu, a 19-year-old Ethiopian immigrant, tragically lost his life on March 9, 2014, in Columbus, Ohio. Mengistu was shot in the upper body while sitting in the back seat of a friend's car in the parking lot of the Hilton Doubletree Hotel on Hutchinson Avenue. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Mengistu had emigrated to the United States with his family when he was in middle school and graduated from Westerville South High School in 2012.
