On March 8, 2017, Jermaine Valdez Wooden, a 33-year-old man from Columbus, OH, was tragically killed in a shooting at an apartment in the 1900 block of Maryland Avenue. The incident occurred early in the morning, around 6 a.m., when Wooden was shot multiple times by Tyrell Lamont Williams, a 27-year-old man who was also present in the apartment. Wooden was immediately taken to Wexner Medical Center in critical condition but was pronounced dead around 8:30 a.m.
