On March 29, 2022, Marquise King, a 21-year-old man from Columbus, Ohio, was fatally shot in the 100 block of North Wilson Road. According to police reports, King was involved in a fight with 47-year-old Ronald Farrow, who pulled out a handgun and shot him. King was taken to Doctor's West Hospital in critical condition but was pronounced dead shortly after 10:50 p.m.
Following the incident, Ronald Farrow was arrested and charged with murder.
However, in a surprising turn of events, a Franklin County jury found Farrow not guilty of murder in December 2024. Farrow claimed self-defense during the trial, stating that he shot King after King showed up at an apartment where Farrow was.
The case drew significant attention due to the circumstances surrounding the shooting and the eventual acquittal of the suspect. The death of Marquise King marked the 28th homicide in Columbus for that calendar year.
Despite the acquittal, the Columbus Division of Police continues to investigate the case and encourages anyone with information to come forward. The community remains hopeful that justice will be served for Marquise King and his family.
