Richard D. Ferguson IV, a 16-year-old African American male from Columbus, OH, tragically lost his life on August 18, 2015. He was riding his bicycle in the 1000 block of East 15th Avenue, just west of Cleveland Avenue, when he was shot multiple times shortly before 10:15 p.m. Despite efforts by medics to save him, Ferguson was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident was quickly classified as a homicide, and Columbus police launched an investigation.
However, despite extensive efforts, the case remains unsolved. Investigators have not identified any suspects or motives, and the case has since gone cold. Central Ohio Crime Stoppers has offered a cash reward for any information leading to the arrest or indictment of those responsible.
The Ferguson family, devastated by the loss, held a celebration of life service on August 28, 2015, at the Chapel of Wayne T. Lee Funeral Service in Columbus. Richard D. Ferguson IV is remembered fondly by his family and friends, who continue to seek justice for his untimely death.
