Adam Todd Stephens, a 31-year-old male from Cincinnati, OH, tragically passed away on September 18, 2015. He was fatally shot at the intersection of Corbly Road and Salvador Street in Mount Washington, Cincinnati, just before 3 a.m. Stephens was taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation into Stephens' death revealed that he was the victim of an aggravated robbery.
Nakai Yearby, a 17-year-old at the time, was arrested and charged with murder in connection with Stephens' death. Yearby was reportedly in possession of a firearm during the incident. The grand jury indicted Yearby on two counts of murder with specification, as he was attempting to commit aggravated robbery when he killed Stephens. Yearby was held on a $500,000 bond, and his arraignment was set for December 4, 2015.
Additionally, police were searching for a second suspect, Darren Goodnight, who was also wanted for murder in connection with Stephens' death. Goodnight was believed to be involved in the incident but had not been apprehended at the time of the reports.
The community in Mount Washington was deeply affected by Stephens' death, with residents expressing concerns about the rise in crime and the need for a multipronged solution to address the issue. Community leaders emphasized the importance of prevention, education, and rehabilitation to combat the infiltration of crime in the area.
Stephens is survived by his daughters, Alanna Acey Lynn Stephens and Aubree Ann Louise Stephens, as well as his parents, siblings, and step-siblings. A Celebration of Life was held in his honor on September 23, 2015, at Fares J. Radel Funeral Home and Crematory in Cincinnati.
The case remains a poignant reminder of the impact of violent crime on individuals and communities, and the ongoing efforts to seek justice for victims and their families.
