Anant Singh, a 64-year-old man of Indian descent, was found dead in his home in Symmes Township, Ohio, on May 4, 2016. Singh, who had recently retired from General Electric, was discovered by his wife in the garage of their Redcloud Court residence. The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office determined that Singh's death was the result of homicidal violence.
Following the discovery of Singh's body, an investigation was launched, and within ten days, Donald Durgan-Dawson, Singh's 38-year-old
employee and property manager for his real estate business, was arrested and charged with aggravated murder. Durgan-Dawson was taken into custody on May 14, 2016, and later sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
The case drew significant attention due to the quiet and affluent nature of the neighborhood, where such violent crimes were rare. Singh was remembered by friends and neighbors as a family man and a gentle soul who was active in his Sikh Temple in West Chester. The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office assured the community that there was no increased risk to neighbors, but encouraged them to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
