Evan David Amos, a 22-year-old male from Youngstown, OH, tragically died on October 18, 2017. He was born on September 7, 1995, in Sharon, PA, and was known for his love of sports, fishing, hunting, and his role as an amateur boxer. Amos worked at Roberto's Restaurant in Youngstown and Terry's Furniture Showcase in North Lima. He was a 2014 graduate of Lowellville High School and a member of Lowellville Christian Church.
Amos's death was the result of a robbery gone wrong.
On the night of his death, two men, Jesse Stewart and James Allen Perry Jr., broke into Amos's home on South Lakeview Avenue with the intent to rob him. During the robbery, Stewart shot Amos, leading to his death. Both Stewart and Perry were later arrested and charged with Amos's murder.
Jesse Stewart, aged 21 at the time of the crime, pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter, aggravated robbery, and weapons under disability. He was sentenced to 25 years in prison for his role in Amos's death. James Allen Perry Jr., aged 20, also pleaded guilty to the same charges and received a 13-year prison sentence. Perry's plea bargain included testifying against Stewart in exchange for a reduced sentence.
