On the evening of November 25, 2017, Ellen Taylor, a 43-year-old African American woman, was fatally shot in her home on Crennell Avenue in Cleveland, Ohio. At approximately 8:45 p.m., while sitting on her couch, she was struck in the head by a bullet fired from outside the residence. Upon arrival, Cleveland police officers found her deceased at the scene.

Ellen Taylor was a mother of five and a grandmother of four. She was also the cousin of Ohio politician Shalira Taylor.
