Summary based on 5 sources
Latrice Burks, a 47-year-old woman from Cleveland, OH, was tragically shot and killed on November 22, 2021, while walking down a street in Cleveland. The incident occurred in the early morning hours, and Burks was pronounced deceased at the scene. Preliminary information suggested that she approached a car on the passenger side before being shot. The Cleveland Division of Police launched an investigation into the fatal shooting.

The investigation revealed that a silver Nissan Altima, linked to both Burks' and another victim's homicides, was seen in surveillance videos from the crime scenes. Ballistics testing further indicated that the same 9 mm handgun was used to kill both victims. Based on this evidence, the Cleveland police developed a theory that Terry Foster, who owned the Nissan, shot and killed Burks, while Charnisha Wilson, Foster's codefendant, aided and abetted in the crime.

On May 9, 2022, Wilson and Foster were charged in a 26-count indictment related to the murders of Burks and another victim, Napoleon Abrams. Foster pled guilty to reduced charges on February 1, 2023, and was sentenced to an indefinite term of 21-years-to-life in prison on February 24, 2023. Wilson's case went to trial, and she was found guilty of multiple offenses, including murder, felonious assault, aggravated burglary, and drug possession. On April 6, 2023, Wilson was sentenced to an indefinite term of 41-years-to-life in prison.

The case against Wilson and Foster highlighted the severe consequences of their actions and the thorough investigation conducted by the Cleveland police to bring them to justice. The tragic death of Latrice Burks remains a somber reminder of the impact of violent crime on individuals and communities.
