Jermani Brooks, a 5-year-old African American girl, tragically lost her life on January 19, 2014, in Cleveland, Ohio. She was shot in the head while sitting in an SUV with her mother, Noni Brooks, on Crossburn Avenue on Cleveland's west side. Noni Brooks, aged 33, was also shot in the head but survived and was upgraded to fair condition at MetroHealth Medical Center.
