On an evening in August, the life of 21-year-old Tyren Spry was tragically cut short in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. On August 14, 2022, Prince George's County police responded to the 10200 block of Twayblade Court around 8:00 p.m. where they discovered Spry in the roadway, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Within days, authorities identified and apprehended two suspects in connection with the fatal shooting. Demarco Bethea, 19, of Suitland, and Montaz Norman, 20, of Temple Hills, were taken into custody. The preliminary investigation suggested that the motive for the shooting was robbery.
Following their arrest, both Demarco Bethea and Montaz Norman were charged with first- and second-degree murder, as well as other related charges. They were held at the county jail without bond.
