On February 6, 2021, Destiny Johnson, a 24-year-old woman from Cleveland, OH, was tragically shot and killed in the stairwell of an apartment building on East 12th Street. Johnson was attending a large party held in two apartments when a fight broke out between a group of women. She left the party, and police believe the shooter chased her and shot her as she entered the stairwell. Johnson was transported to a nearby hospital but was later pronounced dead.
