Tremmelle Raymond Jr., an 18-year-old from Miami, was killed in a tragic shooting on June 1, 2016, in the Liberty City neighborhood near NW 6th Court and NW 69th Street. The incident occurred late at night when Tremmelle was sitting outside his home, speaking to his girlfriend over the phone. He was approached by one or more shooters who opened fire, hitting him multiple times. Tremmelle tried to escape inside his house, but the gunmen followed, firing shots into the residence. Two of his younger siblings, aged 12 and 13, were also injured in the shooting as they were sitting inside the house watching TV. Fortunately, they survived and were treated at Jackson Memorial Hospital for gunshot wounds to the hand and leg, respectively.
The investigation remains open, and the motive behind the shooting is still unclear. Authorities have highlighted the brutal nature of the attack, noting that Tremmelle was specifically targeted while outside, and the violence continued as the suspects shot indiscriminately into the home. Tremmelle was a high school senior, just a few credits shy of graduating, and his family described him as a young man with a bright future ahead. Six children in total were present in the house during the shooting, underscoring the severity of the incident.
The Miami Police Department is still seeking any information that might lead to an arrest. They urge anyone with knowledge about the crime to come forward, offering anonymity and a reward through Crime Stoppers. Detectives have been following up on leads, but no suspects have been apprehended yet. The authorities have stressed that community involvement is crucial in bringing justice to Tremmelle and ensuring safety for others in the area.
