Shaun Allen Hinebaugh, a 33-year-old man from Columbus, Ohio, was tragically killed on June 13, 2018. Shaun was known for his compassionate nature and dedication to helping others, particularly the homeless, hungry, abused, and neglected. He was passionate about fishing, cooking, and organic farming. Shaun is survived by his wife, Debbie Lunsford, his mother, Lee Anne Siegmund, and his siblings, Nate Hinebaugh and Kristen Maul.
Shaun's death was the result of a violent incident involving his girlfriend's estranged husband, Robert Chenault. On the day of the incident, Chenault went to Shaun's apartment on West Hudson Street and fatally shot him. Chenault's estranged wife was in the apartment at the time but was not harmed. After the shooting, Chenault attempted to flee with his 6-year-old daughter, who was present during the incident but was unharmed. Chenault was quickly apprehended by the police.
Following the investigation, Robert Chenault was charged with murder. He later pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for 18 years. The court proceedings revealed that Chenault had gone to the apartment expecting to find his estranged wife and shot Shaun when he answered the door. The tragic incident was part of a custody dispute between Chenault and his estranged wife.
