Rhonda Kay McKeny, a 58-year-old woman from South Point, Ohio, tragically passed away on June 25, 2018. She was born on September 15, 1959, in Huntington, West Virginia, and was the daughter of the late Billy Ray Rowe and Martha Leffingwell Rowe. Rhonda is survived by her daughter, Kasey Ford, and three grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her son, Brandon Franklin Clay.
Rhonda's death was part of a tragic incident that was investigated by the South Point Police Department as
a murder-suicide. On the evening of June 25, 2018, police officers were called to the McKenys' residence at 314 Third Street West for a welfare check after family and friends were unable to make contact with them. Upon entering the home, officers found Rhonda and her husband, James McKeny, both 58 years old, deceased from apparent gunshot wounds. The investigation concluded that James shot Rhonda before taking his own life.
The South Point Police Department determined that there were no suspects to pursue, as the incident was deemed a murder-suicide. No further arrests or litigations were associated with the case. The investigation was completed with the conclusion that James McKeny was the aggressor in the incident.
Rhonda's funeral was held on June 29, 2018, at the Tri-State Worship Center in South Point, Ohio, with burial following at Rome Cemetery in Proctorville, Ohio. Friends and family gathered to pay their respects and remember Rhonda's life.
