Willie Fisher, a 47-year-old man from Elyria, OH, was found shot multiple times behind a convenience store on East Avenue on July 6, 2018. Fisher, who was employed by Bruce Arnoff to clean up the area around the store, became a victim of a murder-for-hire plot. Arnoff, dissatisfied with Fisher due to drug-related issues, hired two men, Patrick Gall and John P. Sullivan, to carry out the murder.
Gall lured Fisher to the location while Sullivan hid in the woods and ultimately shot Fisher.
Fisher's death led to a series of arrests and legal proceedings. Gall was arrested after a standoff and charged with aggravated murder, while Sullivan was also charged with aggravated murder and other related crimes. Arnoff was charged with murder and tampering with evidence.
Saint-Velle Pruitt, initially suspected in the case, turned himself in but was later cleared of involvement after surveillance footage confirmed that Gall had used Pruitt's name during encounters with law enforcement. Arnoff pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including complicity to aggravated murder and tampering with evidence, and was sentenced to 33 years to life in prison. Sullivan received a 39-year to life sentence, and Gall was sentenced to 28 years to life.
The case drew significant attention due to the involvement of multiple suspects and the complex legal proceedings that followed. Arnoff's appeal of his conviction in 2021 further highlighted the contentious nature of the case.
