Damarco McNairy, a 22-year-old man from Elyria, OH, tragically lost his life on May 23, 2022. The incident occurred at the Colonnade Elyria apartments, where McNairy was shot and killed by Chi’Sean Oglesby, a 23-year-old man from Elyria. McNairy was pronounced dead at the hospital shortly after the shooting.
Chi’Sean Oglesby was arrested within hours of the shooting at his mother’s house in Cleveland.
He faced multiple charges, including three counts of murder, one count of attempted murder, four counts of felonious assault, and one count of tampering with evidence. The evidence presented at the trial showed that Oglesby knew his victims and had communicated with them before the incident. He let them inside his apartment more than 20 minutes before he fired at them. Oglesby claimed he acted in self-defense, but the jury rejected this claim and found him guilty on all counts.
The Lorain County Common Pleas Court jury convicted Oglesby on March 7, 2024. He will face a mandatory prison sentence of life in prison with parole eligibility after at least 21 years. The Elyria Police Department and the Lorain County Prosecutor’s Office were commended for their quick and thorough investigation.
This tragic event has left a lasting impact on the community, and the legal proceedings have brought some measure of justice for Damarco McNairy and his loved ones.
