Donyea Tyus and his brother Orlando Tyus, along with their accomplice Cheyenne James, drove around Akron with the intent of killing random people. Earlier that night, the trio had already shot and killed Bonn Rassavong, 46, outside his family's home. After killing McCall, they attempted to shoot another woman, but their gun malfunctioned, allowing her to escape.
Following the tragic events, the Tyus brothers were arrested and later found guilty of multiple charges, including aggravated murder and felonious assault. They were sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Cheyenne James, who confessed to her involvement and testified against the Tyus brothers, received a lesser sentence for her cooperation.
