Mark Tompkins, a 39-year-old resident of Detroit, Michigan, tragically lost his life on June 22, 2012. He was shot while attempting to prevent a car theft near his home. The incident took place on Lafayette Street, reflecting the ongoing crime issues in Detroit at the time.
