In the early morning hours of April 14, 2007, the life of 35-year-old Darrell Antonio Boothe, an African-American male, was tragically cut short in St. Louis, Missouri. Responding to noises outside his home on Utah Street around 5 a.m., Boothe discovered an individual attempting to steal his 1985 Cadillac DeVille. The car was equipped with a steering wheel security device, which the thief was struggling to overcome.
A confrontation ensued between Boothe and the would-be car thief, which ended in violence. The suspect shot Boothe once in the upper thigh. Despite being rushed to a medical facility for treatment, Darrell Boothe succumbed to the single gunshot wound. He was a truck driver for G&K Services and left behind his wife, Marie Boothe, and their three children.
In the aftermath of the shooting, St. Louis police investigators found a flashlight at the scene, presumably left by the suspect. However, despite this piece of evidence, no arrests have ever been made in connection with the murder of Darrell Antonio Boothe. The individual responsible for his death remains at large.
