Jeffrey A. Brown, a 59-year-old male from Ashville, Ohio, passed away on December 28, 2019, at his home. He was a lifelong carpenter by trade and is survived by his mother, Margie Brown, and four siblings: Kathy Liff, Debbie Edgington, Ron Brown, and Myron Brown. Jeffrey was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Brown.
The circumstances surrounding Jeffrey A. Brown's death were part of a larger criminal case involving multiple individuals. On March 1, 2022, the Vinton County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 hang-up call in the area of Frazee Lane, leading to the discovery of a shooting at a residence on Frazee Road in Ashville. The victims were identified as 31-year-old Jori Brown and 29-year-old Lawrence McMichael.
Following a multi-county search, two suspects, August Christopher Schuetz and Shania Nicole Jones, were apprehended and indicted on multiple charges, including Aggravated Murder, Murder, Voluntary Manslaughter, Aggravated Burglary, Felonious Assault, Tampering With Evidence, and Gross Abuse of a Corpse. Shania Jones pled guilty to two counts of conspiracy to commit murder in connection with the deaths, while Schuetz’s trial was still pending.
