On June 16, 2020, 30-year-old Rondell Brooks Jr., an African American male, was found shot and killed in a parking lot in the Villages at Roll Hill on the West Side of Cincinnati, OH. Police responded to the scene after Shot Spotter detected multiple gunshots in the area around 1:45 a.m. When they arrived, they discovered Brooks with multiple gunshot wounds and pronounced him dead at the scene.
Following the incident, the Cincinnati Police Department launched an investigation.
On June 19, 2020, they arrested 24-year-old Jordan Brooks, Rondell's half-brother, and charged him with murder. Jordan Brooks was later released on a $500,000 bond. The investigation revealed that Jordan Brooks was involved in the shooting, and he was scheduled to appear in court on July 30, 2020.
The case drew significant attention due to the familial relationship between the victim and the suspect. The Cincinnati Police Department's Homicide Unit, along with the Springfield Township Police, worked together to apprehend Jordan Brooks.
