Tavion William Allen Walker, a 20-year-old Black male, tragically lost his life on July 16, 2020, in Columbus, Ohio. The incident occurred on July 15, 2020, around 11:19 PM, when patrol officers responded to a report of a shooting in the area of North 4th Street and East 7th Avenue. Upon arrival, they found Walker in an alley suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
He was quickly transported to a local hospital but succumbed to his injuries at 11:42 PM.
Walker's death marked the 68th homicide in Columbus that year. Investigators have been diligently working on the case, but it remains unsolved. The Columbus Police Department has released surveillance videos and images of persons of interest, including individuals seen at a vigil held for Walker the day after his death. The vigil itself was marred by additional violence, as several men fired shots, injuring four people. Police believe that those involved in the vigil shooting may also be connected to Walker's murder.
Despite ongoing efforts, no arrests have been made, and the investigation continues. The Columbus Police Homicide Unit and Central Ohio Crime Stoppers have urged anyone with information to come forward.
