Following the shooting, Mark Reynolds was arrested at a gas station and later pled guilty to multiple charges, including murder. He was sentenced to 21 years to life in prison. Amanda's family has since been advocating for her memory and legacy, creating a scholarship in her name and setting up a memorial outside the White Castle where she worked.
Amanda's parents, Betty and Burnie Rush, have been vocal about seeking justice for their daughter. Despite the tragedy, they have chosen to honor Amanda's memory by promoting kindness and hard work through the scholarship and other initiatives. Amanda's smile now greets customers on a sign in the White Castle lobby, ensuring that her memory lives on.
